Cracker consolidation in Mizushima to go ahead as planned
In line with the memorandum of understanding signed last year – see Plasteurope.com of 09.06.2010Asahi Kasei (Tokyo / Japan; www.asahi-kasei.co.jp) and Mitsubishi Chemical (MCC, Tokyo / Japan; www.m-kagaku.co.jp) on 23 February announced their decision to establish a limited liability partnership (LLP) for integrating and unifying their naphtha cracker operations in Mizushima / Japan. The new LLP, called Nishi Nippon Ethylene (Tokyo / Japan) is to begin operations on 1 April. As a result of the merging their operations, the new LLC’s total capacity will decrease from 1m t/y to about 700,000 t/y.
