Roughly half the caprolactam manufactured by Poland’s Zaklady Azotowe Pulawy (Pulawy / Poland; www.zapulawy.pl) this year is destined for China, the company reports, adding that it has entered into agreements worth PLN 365m (about EUR 93m) for orders to China, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand and India. As a result, the company netted up to USD 2,900/t in January. Zaklady’s caprolactam production recently was optimised thanks to higher quality feedstocks as well as debottlenecking and as a result raised by 5,000 t to a total of 70,000 t/y. All output can be transformed into easily transportable flakes. The Polish producer said it was planning to sell all its output.
