San Roque PET plant transferred to Cepsa / Spanish facility is set to restart in the first quarter
La Seda de Barcelona (Barcelona / Spain; www.laseda.es) completed the sale of the 175,000 t/y PET plant of its subsidiary Artenius San Roque to Cepsa Quimica (Madrid / Spain; www.cepsa.com) as planned at the beginning of 2011 – see Plasteurope.com of 23.11.2010. The two groups put the price of the transaction, part of La Seda’s ongoing restructuring scheme, at EUR 32m, including debt.

The San Roque plant, closed since September 2008, is scheduled to be restarted during this year’s first quarter. It will employ 40 people and operate under the name Cepsa Quimica PET. It will be Cepsa’s first foray into PET polymerisation. Previously, the Spanish petrochemicals group supplied PTA feedstock to the San Roque plant acquired by La Seda from Eastman in 2007.
