Just before 2010 drew to a close, Finnish speciality packaging manufacturer Huhtamaki (Espoo; www.huhtamaki.com) wrapped up the sale of its European rigid plastic consumer goods packaging operations – for most recent coverage, see Plasteurope.com of 24.09.2010. The business was acquired by Island Acquisitions, a subsidiary of Sun Capital Partners (Boca Raton, Florida / USA; www.suncappart.com), which is now in control of the relevant manufacturing facilities in Hämeenlinna / Finland, Auneau / France, Siemianowice / Poland and Istanbul / Turkey. The deal also includes sales units in Germany and Lithuania. The EUR 56m deal also includes the transfer of some 1,100 former Huhtamaki employees.
