Sabic Europe (Sittard / The Netherlands; www.sabic-europe.com) has officially inaugurated the new PP compounding plants, on stream since late 2009, at its complex in Genk / Belgium. The new lines have total capacity to turn out 140,000 t/y, including 110,000 t/y of PP compounds and 30,000 t/y of “Stamax” long glass fibre-reinforced PP for the automotive industry. According to Sabic, the new Belgian facility, billed as “the largest greenfield PP compounding unit in Europe,” can be expanded to 170,000 t/y if needed.
