Pappas appointed Styron CEO

STY Acquisition Corporation, an affiliate of private equity firm Bain Capital Partners (www.baincapitalprivateequity.com), has appointed Christopher Pappas as president and CEO of styrenics and PC business Styron. Bain is in the process of purchasing Styron from Dow Chemical (Midland, Michigan / USA; www.dow.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 03.03.2010.
Dow said the appointment of Pappas, who was previously CEO of Nova Chemicals (Calgary, Alberta / Canada; www.novachem.com), will take effect upon closing of the transaction, expected in June 2010.
Pappas will succeed Mark Remmert, who has been CEO of Dow’s Styron division since July 2009. Pappas, 54, began his career with Dow where he held several leadership positions before joining Nova in 2000.
