HEXPOL
Acquisition of Vita Group's TPE compounding business
Polymer specialist Hexpol (Malmo / Sweden; www.hexpol.com) has bought the VTC TPE Group (Middleton, Manchester / UK; www.vtctpe.com), a leading manufacturer of TPE thermoplastic elastomer compounds, from the Vita Group (Luxembourg; www.thevitagroup.com) for EUR 35m. The businesses sold comprise Vita Thermoplastic Polymers (Manchester / UK) and VTC Elastoteknik (Åmål / Sweden). Last month Vita sold the compounding business of VTC Franceschetti Elastomeri (Corte France, Brescia / Italy) in a management buyout led by Francesco Franceschetti – see Plasteurope.com 03.02.2010.
Hexpol says it expects the VTC TPE Group to be consolidated as of 1 April. It will form part of Hexpol Compounding (Eupen / Belgium; www.hexpolcompounding.com), whose eight global manufacturing sites have a total capacity of more than 200,000 t/y. Hexpol made a profit after tax of SEK 102m (EUR 10m) from sales of SEK 2,608m (EUR 262m) in 2009.
