New LDPE plant starts up in Sweden
As announced in early 2007 – see Plasteurope.com of 23.03.2007 – Borealis (Vienna / Austria; www.borealisgroup.com) has started up its LDPE plant in Stenungsund / Sweden at the end of January 2010. The line, which came at a price tag of EUR 370m and replaces an older PE facility, has production capacity of 350,000 t/y. Following its start-up, Borealis is now able to produce some 700,000 t/y of PE in Stenungsund.
The new line mainly is supposed to manufacture the “Supercure” and “Visico” brands, mostly aimed at the growing market in wire and cable applications.
