TICONA
Takeover of LFT compounder in progress
Engineering plastics producer Ticona (Kelsterbach / Germany; www.ticona.com) is in the process of acquiring German long fibre-reinforced thermoplastics (LFT) compounder Future Advanced Composites & Technology (FACT, Kaiserslautern; www.fact-kunststoffe.com). A Ticona spokesman told Plasteurope.com that the German anti-trust authority, Bundeskartellamt, is reviewing the proposed deal, for which no details have been announced.

FACT, whose “Factor” product family comprises a wide range of LFTs used in injection moulding, extrusion, compression moulding and blow moulding applications, was founded in 1998 as a spin-off of the Institute for Composite Materials (IVW) in Kaiserslautern. With the takeover, Ticona expects to further enhance its position as leading manufacturer of LFTs, which it markets under the brand names “Celstran” and “Compel”.
