Production of LLDPE commences at Nizhnekamsk
Nizhnekamskneftekhim (Nizhnekamsk / Tatarstan; www.nknh.ru) has begun production of LLDPE in four grades for use in the manufacture of rigid tubular film, regular tubular film, general purpose flat die film, package inserts and stretch film. One of these grades, PE5118Q, uses both butene and hexene in its production and is intended for manufacture of a high-strength stretch film. The company claims that it is more competitive in price compared with similar stretch film manufactured using butene only.

In March 2009, the company announced that it had commissioned its first PE plant in Nizhnekamsk. It had previously produced only PS and PP along with a number of raw materials and rubber grades – see Plasteurope.com of 06.03.2009.
