BAYER MATERIALSCIENCE
Licence agreement with US technology firm on P-OLEDs
Bayer MaterialScience (BMS, Leverkusen / Germany; www.bayermaterialscience.com) has signed an agreement with Add-Vision (Scotts Valley, California / USA; www.add-vision.com) giving it rights to manufacture flexible polymer organic light-emitting diode (P-OLED) displays using the US group’s technology.
The German polymer producer says it intends to use its partner’s intellectual property portfolio to produce printable P-OLED displays for active packaging and labels, gift cards, electronic toys and point-of-sale signage. Financial terms of the technology and patent licence agreement were not disclosed.
Karsten Dierksen, head of the functional films polymer electronics unit at BMS, says the Add-Vision technology complements BMS’ electroluminescence technology. Matt Wilkinson, Add-Vision’s CEO, adds: “Our partner’s commitment to film based technologies and products, combined with the print based manufacturing expertise of its functional films unit, makes this an ideal collaboration.”
