EUROCELL
Acquisition of Recovinyl-certified recycling business / Purchase price undisclosed
PVC profile manufacturer and distributor Eurocell Profiles (Alfreton, Derbyshire / UK; www.eurocell.co.uk) has acquired Merritt Plastics (Ilkeston, Derbyshire / UK), a post-consumer recycling and extrusion business, for an undisclosed sum. Merritt is a Recovinyl-certified recycler and has recently invested in new plant and equipment for recycling of PVC window frames at its 5,450 m² factory. The acquisition will provide Eurocell fabricators and installers with the opportunity to recycle windows they are replacing, avoiding landfill costs and improving their sustainability credentials.
“We are extremely positive about the market opportunity this acquisition presents,” said Eurocell chief executive officer Patrick Bateman. “Merritt’s recent investment in new generation recycling technology will complement our advanced PVC-u extrusion and distribution operations perfectly.” The acquisition also, said Bateman, complements Eurocell’s purchase of Cavalok Building Products (Tewkesbury / UK; www.cavalok.com) in December last year by providing material for its PVC cavity wall closure systems, which are produced from 100% post-consumer waste.
Eurocell is part of Tessenderlo Group (Brussels / Belgium; www.tessenderlo.com), which employs over 8,200 people at more than 100 sites in 20 countries.
