Family firm acquires insolvent Ranger France / 270 jobs to be saved
According to reports in the French media, Sora Composites (Changé / France; www.sora-composites.fr) is acquiring the injection moulding company Ranger France (Theillay / France), which went into administration on 24 October 2008 – see Plasteurope.com of 10.12.2008. The district court in Romans-sur-Isère appears to have decided against the offer made by French investor Bernard Krief, who planned to save 220 jobs. Sora plans to retain 277 employees out of the original workforce of 430.
Sora has around 1,000 employees at eight facilities in France and one in the Slovak Republic. Sales at the family-run company, managed by Jean Py, were around EUR 105m in 2007, with approximately two-thirds coming from business with the car industry. The remainder was generated by large composites for the commercial vehicle sector, mainly for MAN and Iveco. Sora was previously interested in taking over the insolvent automotive supplier Cadence Innovation France (Saint Marcel / France) but no deal was concluded – see Plasteurope.com of 05.01.2007.
