Acquisition of PEKK specialist Oxford Performance Materials
Arkema (Colombes / France; www.arkema.com) has acquired polyether ketone ketone (PEKK) specialist Oxford Performance Materials (Enfield, Connecticut / USA; www.oxfordpm.com) from DSM (Heerlen / Netherlands; www.dsm.com) for an undisclosed sum. The US company, with sales of around USD 2m, developed the “Oxpekk” brand of plastics for a wide range of applications.
DSM had an unspecified stake in the company as part of its strategy of strengthening its “Biomedical division” – see Plasteurope.com of 12.05.2008. New owner Arkema intends to develop and commercialize PEKK for aerospace applications, medical implants and oil well drilling equipment.
