A. Schulman (Akron, Ohio / USA; www.aschulman.com) will distribute bioresins produced by Cereplast (Hawthorne, California / USA; www.cereplast.com) in a number of European markets, under an agreement signed at the beginning of 2009. The products involved includes Cereplast’s “Compostables” (single-trip food packaging) and “Hybrids Resins” (automotive, consumer electronics and packaging) in the markets of France, Benelux and Spain.

The Ohio group said Cereplast’s families of bioplastic resins will be offered to customers “interested in more environmentally-friendly solutions.” For Cereplast, the deal with Schulman will enable it to expand its market presence in these key European countries. Together, the partners will push to accelerate the adoption of bio-plastics in Europe, said Jerome Raphanaud, senior vice president of Cereplast Europe.
