CLARIANT
Capacity cutbacks planned / Wage freeze in Switzerland / Short-time working in Germany
Swiss employees of speciality chemicals producer Clariant (Muttenz / Switzerland; www.clariant.com) will have to forfeit wage increases next year, as the group cuts production and implements short time working at production sites worldwide. Affected plants are mostly those supplying the automotive sector.

Clariant is also extending its Christmas break at several plants, including its Muttenz headquarters, and asking workers to take holidays and work off overtime accounts. In Germany, the group is negotiating with employee representatives about short-time working, press reports say.
