Engel (Schwertberg / Austria; www.engel.info), market leader in the injection moulding machine sector, is to expand its facility in St Valentin / Austria for the production of large-scale machines by summer 2009. The company is investing “several million euros” in enlarging the production area by 6,000 m², bringing the total area to 68,000 m², and enabling machine production to be increased by around 30% to meet growing demand, especially for its "duo" dual-platen machines.

Separately, the family-owned company has established two more sales and service branches – in Brazil and Romania. In addition to its eight production plants, Engel now has 22 branches around the world as well as representatives in over 70 countries.

At K 2007, the company showcased a number of technical innovations and presented its new service, "Engel financial solutions". In cooperation with Deutsche Leasing, Engel now offers customised financing to give greater security to converters who find it increasingly difficult to forecast machine capacity utilisation levels due to shorter product lifecycles.
