EUR 277m offer from Taiwan's Lite-On / Board says consideration is "highly attractive"
Optoelectronics components supplier Lite-On Technology (Taipei / Taiwan; www.liteon.com) has made a EUR 277m offer for Finnish injection moulder and mobile telephone parts manufacturer Perlos (Vantaa; www.perlos.com). At EUR 5.2 per share, the offer represents a 40.5% premium on the closing price of Perlos shares of EUR 3.7 on 10 August 2007. Perlos, which recently announced an operating loss of EUR 42.8m for the first six months of 2007 – see Plasteurope.com of 31.07.2007 – said that Lite-On had received irrevocable commitments from the Sohlberg family, which founded Perlos and owns 29.14% of shares in the company. The tender offer period is expected to begin on or about 3 September 2007.
Lite-On supplies phone camera modules, LEDs, LED flashlights, keypad, GPS and various other types of sensors for its telephone handset customers. The Taiwanese company said that Perlos' products will complete its portfolio through adding casing, antenna and sub-assemblies for modules.
