"Twintex" production capacity increased by 25%
Effective April 2007, Saint-Gobain Vetrotex (La Défense Cedex / France; www.saint-gobainvetrotex.com) has increased production capacity for its "Twintex" commingled unidirectional thermoplastic and glass fibre reinforcement by 25% at its Chambéry / France site. The investment follows increasing market demand for the Twintex product range, which now includes Twintex pellets.
This is a new type of highly concentrated reinforcement dedicated to production of structural parts in long fibre thermoplastic. The company says that dilution with PP during injection allows maximisation of the glass ratio and formulation for targeted technical performance and the potential to replace steel, wood and aluminium.
