US private equity company buys and sells in plastics / Successful refinancing of Vinnolit
US private equity investor Advent International (Boston, Massachusetts / USA; www.adventinternational.com) has taken over another company in the plastics sector and is now planning to sell its stakes in two previously acquired plastics businesses. In August, Advent took control of leading manufacturer of hot runner systems for injection moulding Synventive Molding Solutions (Europe: NL-3925 KV ´s-Gravendeel; www.synventive.com) – formerly Dynisco Hot Runners – from another private equity investor, Madison Capital Partners (Chicago, Illinois / USA; www.madisoncapitalpartners.net).
Synventive has manufacturing facilities at Peabody, Massachusetts / USA, ‘s-Gravendeel, Bensheim / Germany and Suzhou / China. Its products, marketed under the “Kona” and “MultiZone” trademarks in more than 50 countries, are used in inkjet cartridges and automobile bumpers, among other things.
The Boston investor now is reported to be trying to sell PVC producer Vinnolit (D-85737 Ismaning; www.vinnolit.com) to another investor – following a successful recapitalisation scheme that brought in EUR 355m – as well as the “Trocellen” PE foam business of HT Troplast (D-53839 Troisdorf; www.ht-troplast.com). According to unconfirmed financial reports, Advent has engaged UBS bank to find a buyer for Vinnolit and hired Drueker bank for the planned Trocellen divestment.
