BARLO PLASTICS
Acquisition of French plastics company / Multi-wall sheet added to portfolio
The newcomer to the European market for transparent plastic sheet, Barlo Plastics Europe NV (Leukaard 1, B-2440 Geel), – see PIE No. 23, 1998 – has acquired the French company Celair Technologies S.A. (Moussey, F-88210 Senones) for around EUR 4.6m. The company, which is based near Strasbourg, is engaged in the production of multi-wall polycarbonate sheet and has a workforce of 35 employees. According to Barlo Plastics, it has a well developed manufacturing technology and a strong established brand. More than 70% of Celair´s sales are to export markets outside France.Barlo sees this acquisition as an excellent opportunity to expand into a significant market sector, which is fully complementary to its existing solid sheet polycarbonate business. In the multi-wall sheet business, Barlo has so far only been involved through the trading of limited amounts in southern Europe. Barlo is anticipating that the inclusion of this product in the company´s portfolio will expand sales significantly, and regards it as a further step towards becoming the market leader in the clear plastics sheet sector.READER SERVICE: Extensive collection of press information (German/English) on the strategic orientation of Barlo Plastics with photos: PIE-No. 43244 – Product range brochure (English): PIE-No. 43245 – Company portrait “A change of course for plastics”: PIE-No. 43246.
