Majority holding of Turkish Ege Profil / Group sales of EUR 280m / Further acquisitions
The Belgian profile manufacturer, Deceuninck Plastics Industries N.V. (Bruggesteenweg 164, B-8830 Hooglede- Gits), will acquire 50.1% of the shares in the Turkish company, Ege Profil (Atatürk Organize Sanzyi, Bolgesi 10003 Sok, No 6, TR-Cigli-Izmir). According to a company announcement, this measure is a further part of the growth strategy of the Deceuninck Group. Ege Profil was founded in 1981 by the Zorlu family and is one of Turkey´s three leading window profile extruders. With a workforce of 200, the company posted sales in 1999 of EUR 20m, representing a market share of 10% in Turkey. For the future, Deceuninck is expecting above-average growth in Turkey for PVC windows, and expects the sales volume of PVC window profiles to double to around 200,000 t by the year 2005.
The Deceuninck Group is one of the biggest European plastic window manufacturers, recording sales in 1999 of EUR 280m (230m). Including the acquisition of Status Systems PVCu Ltd (Delph New Road, GB-Oldham OL3 5BY), this represents a growth of 23%. A new plant was commissioned last year in Swarzedz (Poland). The company intends to pursue its growth strategy in 2000, and does not exclude the possibility of further acquisitions and joint ventures.
