POLIMOON
Purchase of two Danish Rexam plants
The Norwegian Polimoon group (N-0125 Oslo; www.polimoon.com) has taken over, with effect from July 1, 2001, two Danish subsidiary companies from the British packaging group Rexam plc (GB-London SW1X 7NN; www.rexam.com). Rexam Helmia AS (DK-6000 Kolding), now operating as Polimoon Helmia AS, produces consumer packaging for, among other things, beverages and dressings. Rexam Closures and Containers AS (DK-5550 Langoskov) has been renamed Polimoon Langoskov AS. This company is involved primarily in the production of packaging for the pharmaceuticals sector. The total number of employees of the acquired companies is 285 and annual sales amount to EUR 33m. Rexam no longer considers either of these activities as core businesses.
With this acquisition, Polimoon has now acquired a foothold in Denmark. The aim, according to CEO Arne Vraalsen, is to strengthen the company´s market position in Scandinavia and northern Europe. With a workforce of 1,700, the group has annual sales of some EUR 240m. Apart from packaging, which accounts for some 60% of sales, the firm´s main area of activity is “components & systems”, manufacturing parts for the automotive industry and the electrical and electronics segment.
