Salomon production shifting to the East
Sporting goods manufacturer Adidas-Salomon (D-91074 Herzogenaurach; www.adidas-salomon.com) plans to reduce the workforce at its Salomon plants in France by 160 over the next two years and move jobs abroad. Up to 2007, the share of production in France is to sink from 55% to 35%, and 363 jobs will be lost. At the end of 2004, the company said it would eliminate 60 jobs in German manufacturing. A major share of French ski production is to be relocated to Romania, inline skates and snowboards also will be produced in China. Reports from India say the sporting goods firm aims to increase sourcing of footwear from that country.
