Foxconn to close facility in Finland
Foxconn (FIN-15101 Lahti; www.foxconn.com), formerly Eimo, which makes plastic shells for mobile phones, is to close one of its two sites in Finland and concentrate on the supply of high-grade parts. Some 200-300 of the 800 employees in Finland will lose their jobs. The negotiations that have now commenced between the works council and the management are to be completed by mid-August. The members of the Foxconn works council see the reason for this move as problems with OEM Nokia. Foxconn, the brand division of Taiwanese electronic giant, Hon Hai Group, acquired Eimo at the start of 2004 and renamed it.
