Largest European zipper producer created / Zip-Pak acquires UK´s Supreme Plastics
Zip-Pak (IL-60950 Manteno; www.zippak.com) has acquired the reclosables division of UK-based Supreme Plastics (GB-Whitby YO22 4PT; www.supremeplastics.com) as part of its continued expansion in Europe. The purchase comprises Supreme Plastics´ resealable zipper and resealable bag business, and includes associated technology as well as the company´s manufacturing plant in Whitby.
Zip-Pak European spokesman Jan Willem Cornelisse said the Whitby plant will remain in production complementing Zip-Pak´s existing European production facility at Winschoten in the Netherlands. Zipper profiles will also continue to be produced at the Murcia / Spain facility of Plasticos Iberotec, a subsidiary of Supreme Plastics. The combined company will be the largest manufacturer of zippers in Europe, Cornelisse added.
Zip-Pak would not disclose the value of the deal, any details of production capacities, or turnover for either itself or Supreme Plastics.
