Zeus Packaging (Dublin; www.zeuspackaging.com) has again added production, this time with the EUR 25 mn purchase of the two UK-based sister companies Swanline Group (Stone; www.swanline.co.uk) and BoxMart (Shenstone; www.boxmart.co.uk).
According to sources at the Irish packaging manufacturer and wholesaler, the acquisition is expected to increase company revenue to around EUR 500 mn in the coming year, with combined sales at the target businesses quoted at over EUR 30 mn.
With more than 150 employees, Swanline produces paper-based packaging at four locations, while BoxMart specialises in gift and e-commerce packaging. Zeus CEO Keith Ockenden said the acquisitions have strengthened his company’s position in retail, food and beverage, and e-commerce sectors in the UK.
Zeus has acquired eleven companies since 2019. In May 2022, the firm took over Canada’s Agri-Flex (Henryville; www.agri-flex.com), which makes plastic packaging for plants and consumer goods for horticulture. The Irish company also added compatriot transport and industrial packaging maker Limerick Packaging (Limerick; www.limerickpackaging.ie) last year (see Plasteurope.com of 06.10.2021). With the purchase of the Austrian firm Petruzalek (Tattendorf; www.petruzalek.at) in early 2021, Zeus increased its production and sales in the food and industrial packaging sector.
Zeus employs nearly 900 at its 47 locations worldwide in countries such as the aforementioned along with Germany, Spain, Poland, New Zealand, Canada, China, and Australia.
