Japanese carbon nanotubes plant starts up
Zeon (Tokyo / Japan; www.zeon.co.jp) in mid-November celebrated the official completion of its new carbon nanotubes plant in Shunan City, Yamaguchi / Japan. After completing its test runs, the facility is expected to commence mass production before the end of this year. Ahead of the completion, Zeon in June established Zeon Nano Technology, a 100% subsidiary tasked with operating the plant and selling its output. Nameplate capacity was not disclosed.

The single-walled carbon nanotubes manufactured at the facility are characterised by a high aspect ratio, purity and specific surface area and are said to be suitable for use in high-performance capacitors as well as materials with high thermal conductivity, among others.
