With full order books for the next years, WKW Kunststofftechnik AG (CH-9464 Rüthi; www.wkwtr.ch) has decided to invest CHF 12m in the expansion of its production, freight management and storage capacities. The company specialises in supplying injection moulded panels and cladding components. Having supplied Volvo as its main customer for several years, the company has now successfully added 13 OEMs to its portfolio.

Due to an extension to the main facility, the company has increased its production floorspace from 1,500 to 5,000 m². Storage space was expanded by1,500 m² and a new 2,000 m² freight management terminal was set up. Over the past months, the number of employees has risen from 65 to 90, another 30 are expected to be taken on by the end of next year following the official opening of the extension, and there are plans to increase the number of employees to a total of 160 in final stages of the construction work.

As an independent PLC, WKW Kunststofftechnik is a member of the internationally active WKW conglomerate with Walter Klein GmbH & Co KG (D-42349 Wuppertal; www.wkw.de) at its centre. The group´s core competence lies in the production of profiles and panels, mostly made from aluminium, for the automotive industry. As a member of the medium-sized corporate group with 3,000 employees and a turnover of EUR 500m, the Swiss company is the specialist for the group´s plastics activities.
