Austrian injection moulding machinery manufacturer Wittmann Battenfeld (Kottingbrunn; www.wittmann-group.com) is increasing capacity for its large machine model, the “MacroPower”, at its Kottingbrunn plant. The machine was introduced in 2010 and is now available with clamping forces ranging from 500 t to 1,100 t. The company said the production expansion, which will take place during 2012, was in response to strong demand for the machines.
The Kottingbrunn facility was utilised to full capacity in 2011 and with a promising start to 2012 the company decided to extend the production and warehouse areas by 3000 m². The assembly area will be increased by around 1,600 m² with the addition of a new bay to the existing assembly hall, while the pre-assembly and warehouse capacity has already been expanded by approximately 1,400 m² through remodelling existing buildings. The planning phase has been initiated and construction will start in spring. The new hall is expected to be completed by the end of September 2012.
