WIRTHWEIN
Machinery expansion project at Polish subsidiary
German plastics components manufacturer Wirthwein (Creglingen; www.wirthwein.de/en) is investing roughly EUR 2.7m in the expansion of its Polish subsidiary, Wirthwein Polska Spzoo, in Lodz.

The project is expected to last through March 2015 with most of the investment going towards additional peripheral machinery and technical equipment. At its Lodz location, Wirthwein employs 275 individuals working with 34 injection presses ranging from 800 - 10,000 kN of clamping force. The company also plans to add 20 positions at the site.

New household appliance projects from longtime customers BSH Bosch und Siemens Hausgeräte factored heavily in the decision to increase the Polish facilities. The site has also been selected by Robert Bosch to produce 20 components used in its e-bikes.

With about 2,500 employees, the Wirthwein group is made up of 19 companies worldwide. It recorded revenues of EUR 331m in 2012. In addition to Germany and Poland, it has production sites in China, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. The family-owned company's customers are primarily from automotive, railway, household appliance, medical technology and energy industries.
