Packaging films plant opens in Spain
Wipak Iberica, part of the Wipak (Bomlitz / Germany; www.wipak.com) group, has opened a new manufacturing plant for packaging films in Llinars del Valle, north of Barcelona / Spain. More than 40 employees work at the plant, which officially opened in March. The investment is part of Wipak’s plans to enter new markets, said group president Antti-Aarnio Wihuri. “In economically difficult years it is particularly important for companies to generate additional business by exporting their products to new markets,” he remarked.
Wipak acquired the Llinars del Valle site when it took over the printing and laminating unit from Flexible Packaging in 2005. The location now serves as the company’s production and logistics centre for the southern European market.
