Italian thermoforming manufacturer purchased / Boost to technology offering
Swiss development and plant engineers Wifag-Polytype (Fribourg; www.wifag-polytype.com) has boosted its technology portfolio with the acquisition of OMV Machinery (Verona / Italy; www.omvgroup.com) from Italian packaging and disposable tableware company ISAP Packaging (Verona; www.isap-packaging.com). Financial terms were not disclosed.
OMV Machinery, which has 45 employees, designs and builds thermoforming equipment for plastic containers, lids, plates and other shaped products. Wifag-Polytype said the acquisition provides a “unique offering to the market for all kinds of light containers for the food, beverage and non-food packaging market”. It added that OMV’s thermoformed "In Mould Label" (IML) technology complements its printing technologies.
The Wifag-Polytype Group has 1,200 employees covering markets in the US, Brazil, India, Thailand, China/Hong Kong, Turkey, and the Middle East.
