WEST PHARMACEUTICAL SERVICES
Expansion at Irish contract manufacturing facility completed / The Tech Group business becomes part of “West” brand
US pharmaceutical packaging and delivery systems company West Pharmaceutical Services (Exton, Pennsylvania; www.westpharma.com) has completed its 5,575 m² expansion at its contract manufacturing facility near Mulhuddart / Ireland. The company said the expansion is in response to demand for medical device manufacturing – especially in treating diabetes.
The company also said its contract manufacturing business, formerly known as The Tech Group, will now align with the West brand and trade as “West”. The transition reflects the significance of contract manufacturing in the company’s long-term strategy.
Karen Flynn, West’s senior vice president and COO, said, “As the healthcare market becomes increasingly complex, West is advancing our core competencies in the development, manufacturing and final packaging of complex drug delivery systems and diagnostic devices for our customers. We are excited about the growth and expansion we are experiencing in both our contract manufacturing business in Dublin as well as our proprietary products business in Waterford, both of which will support increasing demand from our global customer base.”
In June 2015, the company broke ground on an 8,800 m² facility to be built at Knockhouse in Waterford / Ireland – see Plasteurope.com of 29.06.2015.
