WAVIN
Closure of UK plant / Transfer of injection moulding activities / Operational review continues
Wavin UK (Chippenham; www.wavin.com) is closing its Lichfield factory and transferring injection moulding activities to its plant in Doncaster, with a potential 115 job losses. The transfer is part of a process to optimise manufacturing operations in order to reduce costs and increase customer service levels during the integration of Hepworth Building Products, which Wavin acquired in 2005 (see Plasteurope.com Web of 11.04.2005). This saw the closure last year of the company´s Padiham facility, with extrusion operations being transferred to sites in Brandon and Chippenham. Trade unions have been informed of the pending closure and consultations have begun with staff. Currently, Wavin has eight production sites in the UK and one in Ireland.
