New unit boosts position in sanitary sector / Takeover of German water technology firm
Wavin BV (NL-8000 Zwolle; www.wavin.com), one of the leading manufacturers of plastic pipe systems, is expanding its presence in the sanitary sector with the establishment of a new European business unit for sanitary and heating systems. The new unit will coordinate European production and marketing of complete systems for drinking water installation, heating unit connection and floor heating systems. Wavin´s sanitary and heating systems are sold in 24 countries worldwide, with the largest production sites in Germany, the UK, Italy and Poland. “The new independent business unit for sanitary and heating systems was the next logical step on the way to becoming one of the leading system suppliers in this market in Europe,” said Klaus Mangelmann, director of the new business unit.
At the beginning of this year, Wavin´s German offshoot, Wavin GmbH (D-49767 Twist), acquired 90% of Elwa Wassertechnik GmbH (D-49809 Lingen; www.elwa.de). Founded in 1994, Elwa is regarded as one of the leading German firms in rain water management.
