In a deal whose financial details were not disclosed, Finnish technical laminate and protective packaging producer Walki Group (Espoo; www.walki.com) announced that it has acquired two Meuwissen Holding groups: flexible packaging materials producer Meuwissen Industrie (Haarlem / The Netherlands; www.meuwissen-industrie.com) and building and construction material specialist Meuwissen Bouwprodukten. The two Dutch groups together employ 65 workers and in 2010 generated sales of EUR 21m.
The Meuwissen businesses will complement the existing portfolio of Walki, which operates two plants at its home country Finland, including this one in Valkeakoski (Photo: Walki) |
Walki, which is owned by private equity investor CapMan (Helsinki / Finland; www.capman.com), plans to integrate the two businesses into its Technical Products division, which already operates plants in Finland, Germany, Sweden, the UK and China. The division’s general manager, Wolfgang Thissen, has been appointed managing director of the acquired units, which he is to oversee from offices in Haarlem.
Leif Frilund, CEO of Walki, said the acquisition would allow the Finnish group to further develop its position as a leading technical laminates and protective packaging producer. In addition, “their network of distribution channels will provide enhanced access to markets in central Europe for the combined business,” according to Thissen.
