Earlier in June, representatives of Wacker Chemie (Munich, Germany; www.wacker.com) broke ground for the new plant in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. A production building is to be erected on the 23,000 m² site near the German border by the end of next year; the cost is expected to be in the low three-digit million-euro range. Initially, Wacker intends to produce room-temperature crosslinking high-performance silicones, and from 2028 onwards, high-temperature curing solid silicones.
