VISTEON
Last remaining interiors plant in Berlin sold to Automotive Plastics Components Holding
Automotive Plastic Components Holding (APCH, Cologne / Germany), a company founded only this April, has bought Visteon’s (Van Buren Township, Michigan / USA; www.visteon.com) last remaining automotive interior components plant. The future of the facility, located in Berlin / Germany and home to about 400 employees, remains uncertain. The transaction is expected to close in early December.
The Berlin plant was the last interiors facility still operated by Visteon, after the former Ford subsidiary sold most of its activities related to dashboards, centre consoles, door cladding, radiator grills and other interior components to Cerberus Capital Management in 2014. Visteon itself has focused on heat management and cockpit electronics applications. In line with this realignment, the group last year also sold its interiors facilities in Pune and Chennai – both in India – to Cerberus affiliate Reydel Automotive Holdings.
For Cerberus, the purchase allows it to revive the Reydel Automotive (Clamart / France; www.reydel.com) name, which is what Visteon’s interiors business was called after the Ford subsidiary acquired the OEM in 1999. Before that, the activities were owned by Plastic Omnium (PO, Levallois / France; www.plasticomnium.com). Reydel currently operates 15 plants, as well as four just-in-time production sites and eight R&D centres across Europe, Latin America and Asia.
