Further expansion in the plastics sector / Acquisition of a Czech company
Villeroy & Boch AG (D-66688 Mettlach; www.villeroy-boch.de), the manufacturer of kitchen and bathroom furniture, is further expanding the plastics division it founded in 1999. Following the acquisition of the Swedish whirlpool manufacturer, Svenska Badkar, in November 2000, the company has now acquired the Czech company, Vagner-plast ( www.vagnerplast.cz).
Vagnerplast manufactures plastic baths and shower trays, whirlpool systems, shower cabins and shower door systems. The main production facility is at the company´s headquarters in Kladno near Praha. Whirlpool systems are assembled at a branch company in Slovakia. According to Villeroy & Boch, Vagnerplast is the market leader with its product range in the Czech Republic and exports mainly to the countries of eastern Europe like Poland, Hungary, Russia and Ukraine, where there is a fast growing demand for modern furnishings in the bathroom and wellness segment. The company posted sales in 2000 of around EUR 13m with a workforce of 200.
