European distributor Velox (Hamburg / Germany; www.velox.com) is now offering PP honeycomb cores made by ThermHex Waben (Halle / Germany; www.thermhex.com). The product range will be distributed in Europe, excluding the UK and Northern Ireland.
ThermHex Waben produces a broad range of core products in thicknesses from 3mm to 30mm and densities from 60 kg/m³ to 120 kg/m³. The company said its PP cores delivered exceptional surface quality in sandwich components even when very thin skin materials were applied.
Velox added they also offered significant weight saving, high compression and shear strength, energy absorbance, and resistance to moisture, acids and base as well as being 100% recyclable.
Serge Gradys, composite division manager at Velox, said the cores were a great addition to the company’s growing portfolio. He added: “This new generation of lightweight cores stands out by an improved bonding with glass fibre coats and can be further processed efficiently.”
The ThermHex PP honeycomb cores were said to be the established material of choice in various applications and industries including transport, automotive, marine, building and construction, industrial equipment, wind and solar energy, among others.
