A giant blow moulding unit will soon be installed in a new Van Leer (UK) Ltd (Meadow Lane Works, Ellesmere Port, South Wirral L65 4EU) factory at Ellesmere Port. The GBP 2.4m investment will be dedicated to the production of Van Leer's "UniCUBE" coextruded HDPE 1,000 litre intermediate bulk containers. This will be the first manufacturing unit in the UK for these containers, which are presently manufactured in France and the USA, and is expected to be in production by early 1997. Also at its Ellesmere Port site the company has invested GBP 1.5m in a new line for the manufacture of its "Valerex" plastic drums. The line incorporates upgraded body making equipment and new injection moulding equipment, designed to produce the tops and bottoms simultaneously.
