HDPE pipe rights licensed to France's Tubao / “Weholite” offers extra-wide diameters and enhanced flow rates
Uponor Infra, a division of Finnish pipe manufacturer Uponor (Vantaa; www.uponor.com), has agreed to grant an exclusive licence to Tubao (Saint-Saëns / France; www.tubao.fr), a manufacturer of steel pipe storage solutions for rainwater, for the manufacture and marketing of “Weholite” HDPE pipes in France. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
One of the unique features about Weholite, Uponor noted, is that it offers extra-wide inside diameters of up to 3,500mm, enabling the pipe to provide an enclosed channel for conducting liquids over distances. Tubao plans to offer pipes up to 3,000mm inner diameter initially.
Weholite pipe, which is used worldwide in low pressure/gravity service applications for potable and storm water, sewage and various other liquids, has a smooth surface that enhances flow rates compared to pipes made from steel, cast iron or concrete, Uponor said.
