UPONOR
Pipe systems: Strong interim result / Brisk demand continues / "Prices satisfactory"
During the first half of 1994, the Uponor Group's (HQ: FIN-02110 Espoo) turnover increased to FIM 1.723m, a rise of 11.9% from the corresponding period in 1993. A strong demand for its products and improved efficiency in internal operations clearly increased group profitability. Half-year operating profit amounted to FIM 159.4m or 9.3% of turnover. Operating profit for the corresponding period last year was FIM 90.4m (5.9%).
During the first six months, demand for Uponor's plastics pipe systems improved in almost all business areas. As a consequence, capacity utilisation improved in the factories and, with a few exceptions, sales prices remained satisfactory. The growth in profitability has also been positively influenced by the fact that marketing investments made during the downturn have begun to bear fruit. Nearly all business units of the group showed improved results over the corresponding period last year. The trend has continued good also during the months after the summer.
