Pipe systems manufacturing in Ireland to be concentrated in Banbridge / Cork site to close
Uponor (Vantaa / Finland; www.uponor.com) is to move all of its manufacturing facilities for municipal infrastructure pipe systems in Ireland to its existing factory in Banbridge / Northern Ireland, as part of its effort to streamline operations and develop its supply chain globally.
The company has sold its factory premises in Cork / Ireland, in a deal that is planned to take place in the final quarter of 2008. Uponor said that when completed the rationalisation will bring a pretax sales gain of EUR 18m. The Cork facility employs around 60 people, while the factory in Banbridge has a staff of approximately 100.
