UNNOX
Spanish additives group plans growth in Europe
The Unnox Group (Vacarisses / Spain; www.unnoxgroup.com) is a masterbatch and additives specialist created from the merging of Vanoplast (Avignon / France; www.vanoplast.com) with Navarra de Colorantes y Aditivos (NCA, Esquíroz / Spain) and Galloplast (Vacarisses). For Iberia, Unnox has begun commercialisation of its masterbatches produced in Spain – at plants in Barcelona and Pamplona.
The group has a total capacity of over 25,000 t/y, with another production site in Avignon. It also operates sales offices in Europe and North Africa. Unnox says it is planning to continue international expansion in a second stage.

Spanish private equity firm Sherpa Capital (Madrid; www.sherpacapital.es) acquired Galloplast and Vanoplast in 2016 and NCA in 2017. At the time of the Galloplast buy, Sherpa envisioned “building-up an important pan-European player through organic growth and a ‘buy and build’ process” in the masterbatches and plastic additives sector.
Unnox’s management team also has new additions. Isidre Estrada, who has more than 35 years of experience in the masterbatch industry, is the sales director for Iberia. The group’s new CFO is Santiago Gatell.
The Spanish company’s “Restore” portfolio includes products for promoting the use of recycled materials, such as a range of additives for PET preforms, the “Clear Black” line of carbon-free black masterbatches designed to be separated through optical sorting systems in recycling plants and its “Safe” masterbatches that are aversive concentrates to deter rodents and pests.
