Closure manufacturer United Caps (UC, Luxembourg; www.unitedcaps.com) has officially opened its new 5,000 m² production facility in Dinnington / UK. Investment in the plant was quoted at EUR 20m, and operations there are forecast to help increase group turnover by 15% in phase one. The focus is expected to be on beverage and dairy closures, with options to add other segments as needed.
Production at the facility began towards the end of 2020. The official opening, however, was delayed due to the pandemic. United Caps originally announced its intention to invest in Dinnington in 2018 (see Plasteurope.com of 02.07.2018). Production was expected to begin at the end of 2019, also the time it opened a new plant in Kulim / Malaysia under its Close To You strategy – of which Dinnington is also a part – and the latter helped improve the company’s position in Asia (see Plasteurope.com of 21.11.2019).
Earlier this year, the company said that it had achieved its strategic growth targets for 2020 even though sales fell nearly 1.5% from the year prior (see Plasteurope.com of 25.03.2021).
