United Caps (Luxembourg; www.unitedcaps.com) has announced that it plans to acquire the caps, closures and handles operation of Dewit Plastics (Schoten / Belgium; www.dewitplastics.com). The deal, for which financial terms were not disclosed, covers Dewit’s screw, tamper-evident and child-resistant closures as well as handles for large containers. Dewit Plastics said it will continue with its remaining injection moulding and thermoforming businesses.
Production assets covered by the acquisition will be transferred from Dewit’s plant to United Caps’ operation in Hoboken / Belgium. United Caps said the deal would expand the range of products it could offer its customers. The transaction was due to be closed at the end of last month.
United Caps, formerly known as Procap, employs around 500 staff in plants across Europe and turned over EUR 131m last year. The company recently announced the opening of a new facility for caps and closures production in Kulim / Malaysia. The facility, in the north of the country, is to be operational in the first quarter of 2018 and will create 20 jobs.
