Caps and closures manufacturer United Caps (Luxembourg; www.unitedcaps.com) is debuting new techniques for bi-injection moulding and in-mould labelling at the “interpack” (www.interpack.com) trade fair being held in Düsseldorf / Germany from 4 - 10 May.
The company will be presenting prototypes manufactured from an enhanced bi-injection process as well as showcasing its new Doubleflow precision pouring solution for use with edible oils and vinegars. United Caps said this two-part closure, which weighs just 3 g, is “turning heads in the industry”.
The group has also developed a cap in the shape of a flower for French bottling firm Wattwiller that makes it easier to open the bottles while also adding to the product’s shelf appeal.
Reflecting on the company’s growing sales, which rose by more than 7% in 2016 to EUR 131m, CEO Benoît Henckes commented: “We are not only continually improving our product lines, but we are constantly reviewing and optimising production processes for highly efficient, innovative and sustainable production.”
United Caps said it will also be announcing plans at interpack to invest in new production capacities in Malaysia to meet high demand from its customers in Southeast Asia. The company will be building a manufacturing facility in the Kulim Hi-Tech Park (www.khtp.com.my), located in the northern Malaysian state of Kedah, that is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2018. Henckes stated that the investment will enable local production of about 300m closures per year, and create at least 20 new jobs in the region.
