UHDE-INVENTA FISCHER
Engineering contract for JBF Industries' PET plant in Belgium
The plans for JBF Industries’ (Mumbai / India; www.jbfindia.com) new PET plant in Geel / Belgium are starting to take shape – for previous coverage, see Plasteurope.com of 08.06.2011. In mid-October, plant manufacturer Uhde Inventa-Fischer (Berlin / Germany; www.uhde-inventa-fischer.com) announced that it had been tasked with building the 432,000 t/y plant, which is due for start-up in 2014.

The facility, which will be fed by PTA produced by BP Chembel, a subsidiary of BP (London / UK; www.bp.com), will employ Uhde Inventa-Fischer’s proprietary Melt-To-Resin (MTR) technology and will also include a 54,000 t/y Flakes-To-Resin (FTR) recycling line that will allow JBF to replace 25% of the PTA required for production with recycling material.

Specifically, the German company will provide the know-how licence for the MTR and FTR technologies, while also in charge of the plant’s engineering and the supply of all necessary components. Uhde Inventa-Fischer also will train all the facility’s operating personnel.
